tHE COCOON
The Cocoon is the outcome of a lighting project that gave us the freedom to do anybody for a lighting piece. I wanted, most importantly, to play with the way light is affected by bodies and layers.
IDEATION
Initial sketches and ideas for a lighting project.
I turned the sketches into an Orthographic which I used to send to the CNC machine to cut all the pieces out.

The sketches explored various bodies in nature which is the central theme I wanted to move around. The final body consists of tree leaves inspiring the form and butterfly wings inspiring the visuals.
misty ash
-
This would create a brighter piece, allowing light to pass throughout the whole body.
-
There would be too much light passing when the main focus are the holes.
sleek wood
-
Focuses light to go through the holes.
-
Takes away from the light and airy feel that could compliment the vinyl film.
foggy grey
-
A balance between standing out and specific focal points.
-
Does not compliment vinyl as well due to color choice
SETTING

-
I imagine this sitting in a luxurious restaurant bathroom to bring luxury to every piece of a restaurant.
-
It perfectly blends into a darker toned space while catching slight attention when lit up.
-
Anyone with the intention of spicing up a space would love this in a minimalist home
