QUICK FIX PALETTE
YEAR: 2023
School Year: Junior
Touch-ups are a must-have in important events in everyday settings. Makeup inevitably, even when professionally done, can fray from the heat, sweat, or tears you may encounter on a random day.
The quick-fix palette is the ultimate on-the-go makeup palette for women who are always on the move. This versatile palette is perfect for quick touch-ups and fixes throughout the day. The palette has three rotating layers that allow you to access all your favorite products at once.
Oops…It’s time to go
When ideating on this palette I knew I needed something as small as possible with a mechanism that would be easy to move with one hand. That’s when I thought of the swivel motion and various layers in one compact body.
from ideation sketches to final and reformated concepts
final idea
I explored a few round body shapes and ended up with a mirror top that is magnetically connected to the body. There are three layers to the body that you can access by swiveling the buttons on the side to reveal the layer underneath,
-
The round form makes it easier and comfier to hold.
-
The palette features three layers for three parts of the routine.
-
The body measures 3 by 3 inches.
prototype
After 3D printing a prototype I realized I didn’t like the idea of a swivel motion for the mirror and lid. The knobs on the side were also too small and not smooth at all- especially when I wanted it to be seamless to the body.

The final body consists of a mirror that can stand on its own on a surface. This lid attaches to the body using magnets underneath. The body itself holds three layers that can be accessed with the buttons on the side.
final prototype
The body was 3D printed to get as close to the real-life material as possible. The body was light and easy to hold in one hand and use - therefore successfully achieving its main goal.
